Adam McCollister

Mr. McCollister’s original pursuit of a degree in landscape architecture did not go as planned. Instead, in April 2005 he earned a degree in golf course management and moved to Southwest Florida, where he worked as a golf professional for the next four years. It was during this time that he was exposed to the Audubon Signature program and observed the concept of environmental design. Working as a golf professional only increased his passion for design, and the possibilities of a career in landscape architecture.

Adam’s motto has always been to “think with your head, but follow your heart, and do something that you know and love.” So, with that in mind, at the age of 25, he decided to go back to school to pursue the degree he began chasing seven years prior.

In the spring of 2014, upon earning a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Florida, Adam joined Dix.Hite + Partners in Longwood, Florida. He is a registered landscape architect with a current project focus including roadway and streetscape design, multi-family developments, residential design, community hardscape and landscape design and renovations, digital renderings and project color studies.

Since 2014, Adam has served various roles on the Executive Committee of the ASLA Florida Chapter, including Conference Committee member, Member at Large (MAL) for Emerging Professionals and MAL for Public Relations and Marketing. He also assists to administer the annual L.A.R.E. Exam Prep Seminar and is a member of the Orlando Section Programming Committee. His passion for the profession keeps him active and excited about the future of landscape architecture!
